Brazil Bourbon
Brazil Bourbon
Frank Sinatra sang it well in the Coffee Song " They've got an awful lot of coffee in Brazil." Propagated by the French and favored in their island Reunion, the Brazil Bourbon (pronounced "Boor Bone") variety was raised from seeds imported directly from Saudi Arabia. Named "Bourbon" in honor of the French King, Louis XIV. From his royal greenhouse came the beginning of Brazil's entire coffee-growing industry. The Bourbon, grows into a Brazil Bourbon slender tree if not topped, has broad leaves, of which the bronze coloring is absent from the young leaves. This variety is appreciated for high quality and its large yields. In a country the size of Brazil, with a multi million bag coffee production, it is never easy to find the top coffees that represent such a small fraction (.5%) of the nations Arabica production. The Bourbon coffee, though has taken on the name like whiskey, is more like a fine wine! The Bourbon is a consistent winner of the Cup Of Excellence Competitions. It is widely noted for its rich aroma, mild acidity and medium-to-full body. Truly a delectable gourmet coffee that yields an enticingly smooth cup.
